FAQ

Q. What is sound healing?

A. Science tells us we live in a sea of vibration and everything that vibrates is producing a sound. Given that the human body is composed of vibration, it too carries a symphony of sound for every organ, bone, tendon and tissue. Even though we cannot hear these sounds with our human ear, our body feels the sound as sensation. In the new science of psycoacoustics, we study the perception of sound, how we listen, what is our emotional or psychological response and how speech, sound and music will impact the human nervous system. Sound healing then is the practice of using sound frequencies as an efficient and effective way to restore balance in the physical body and nervous system.

Some traditional cultures understand the remarkable healing power of sound. Modern society is beginning to rediscover the importance of sound and music for us all. If our natural harmony is disrupted, we can become unbalanced and our frequencies change, leading to “disharmony” in both body and mind. Each person’s body is like an orchestra that can be tuned with sound. Sound healing works on the belief that the human body is not solid. Rather, it is energy held together by sound. Any disease therefore indicates a specific sound frequency has gone out of tune and listening to or making sound can bring us back into healthy “attunement.”

Q: What conditions can sound healing help with?

A: People use sound healing to cope with various kinds of illnesses and conditions, including weight problems, high blood pressure, migraine headaches, depression, menopausal symptoms, and the prevention of colds and the flu. People also use sound to assist with sluggish digestion, hot flashes, sleeplessness, mood swings, cravings, joint pain, body tension, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, and many other conditions.

Q. What Are The Ancient Solfeggio Frequencies?

A. These original sound frequencies were once used in ancient Gregorian chants and other vocal music church authorities say were lost centuries ago. The chants originally contained a six-tone scale, which church authorities replaced with the 12-tone tempered scale that is used today. The ancient six-toned chants were believed to impart spontaneous ecstatic responses when heard during the singing of vespers or the celebration of mass.  All six Solfeggio frequencies are found in water crystals. These are the exact frequencies used today by genetic biochemists to repair broken DNA.

Q. What are chakras and how are they related to sound?

A. Chakras are billions of invisible vortexes of life-giving energy that flow through all levels of our existence. For our purpose, however, a focus is on seven of the most common chakras. Each chakra vortex is a harmonic gateway forming a center of activity for receiving, assimilating and expressing our life force energy. When we are feeling healthy or in a state of wellbeing, each cell in the body is in its natural rhythm and vibratory frequency. Chakra health is weakened by daily stress or behaviors and habits of thought that are not in harmony with our innate design. Some chakras may be more open and balanced. Others may become displaced, while still others have less energetic vitality. In all cases, the result is a sense of being “out of tune” or feeling stuck. The good news, the body is a self-healing, self-correcting mechanism. Even better news, sound is a swift and direct pathway to strengthen and align the natural harmonic resonance of the chakras, and allow optimum health.

Q. What is energy medicine?

A. Energy Medicine is any branch of alternative therapy or complementary medicine using methods and techniques that involve working with our natural energy field, called the life force, to stimulate the body’s own healing mechanism. These range from structured disciplines like Ayurveda, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Acupuncture, Homoeopathy and Reflexology to less defined systems like Reiki, and Sound Healing.  Energy medicine is both a complement to other approaches in medical care and a complete system for self-care and self-help. It can address physical illness and emotional or mental disorders, and can also promote high-level wellness and peak performance. You heal the body by activating its natural healing energies; you also heal the body by restoring energies that have become weak, disturbed, or out of balance. As today’s medicine integrates complementary and alternative wellness models, the human voice is recognized as an echo-system with far reaching influence. The way we breathe, the words we choose to use, the emotions that animate them, and ultimately what experiences we create day-to-day, are all a part of the vast vibrational web that directs the ebb and flow of our lives. These beliefs, encoded in each cell, carry a frequency that either allows or resists wellbeing.
