Solstice: A Prelude

To 2022 I say, Thank You.
I have deep appreciation for the risks I was conscious of taking, the changes I was conscious of making (especially those I didn’t see coming), the resistance, reluctance and resurrections, the opportunities to fully stand in Yes, and No, the People, old friends and new, who were reflections and reminders of my true self this year.
I did the best I could.
So here we are approaching the end of another year. The ancients revered Winter Solstice. Long before it was co-opted by religions and commerce (so named, Christmas), Solstice was an important mystical celebration marking the cycle of birth of our beautiful planet.
As a daughter of Mother Nature, I have started unpacking what this mystical tradition could possibly mean to me.
Whew…I’m finding that the tiniest morsel of mystical truth leaves me hungry for more… much more.
There was a time when I was satisfied to scratch the surface of the sacred, happy to gather enough information to intellectually grok Solstice, maybe even have an opinion or two. Happily, that is no longer the case. I want to live intimately inside these codes of deep knowing.
Solstice invites me to seek the stillness within the dark, the quietude and simplicity of being empty.
Solstice is the invitation to do just that, empty out, release EVERYTHING and EVERYONE; truly let go of my attitudes, my stories, my wants & desires, my fears, my hopes and visions cultivated throughout the year.
Is that even humanly possible? Can I fully release the old ideas, beliefs and patterns that have defined me?
Am I ready/willing to slip into the darkness of the Mother’s womb and allow the new seed of Me to be born?
